Founder Story
Nani Makani is a Hawaiian term and translates to "beautiful wind." It is precisely such a beautiful wind that the company's founder Konstanze Ewert created with the design of these stylish fans. The idea was born during a dream vacation in Hawaii, where she realized she was missing only one thing: A light, fresh breeze. Grabbing the menu of the restaurant where she sat, she began to fan herself to produce a bit of fresh air. She soon discovered that many welldressed women around her were doing the same thing. An inadvertent break in style.
She concluded that a fashion accessory meeting the highest standards of innovative design and high quality, while still being practicable, was indeed missing. It was at this the point where the idea was born, and the Hawaiian name Nani Makani became the poetic homage for this journey’s start. It also underscores the easy-going and colorful style of the island of Hawaii.

The founder’s vision is translated into beautiful designs by experienced designers and illustrators. Regardless, if it’s a floral patten, pop art or animal print, the label’s colorful designs such as “Frida,” “Costa Rica” or “Maui” are handcrafted, limited edition designs that convey a zest for life paired with joy for creativity and luxury.

Manufacture quality:

All fans are hand-made in Germany and consist of carefully processed, high-quality materials.
The frame is made of certified water buffalo horn and offers stability as well as longevity.
Additionally, the materials can be re-used to produce a new fan design. The fan sheets are made of from a triple-coated environmentally friendly carton, are water-repellent and UV protected.

Konstanze Ewert has a special affinity for style and fashion which she has demonstrated through her long-term cooperation with international luxury labels and her successful consultancy work with discriminating target groups, which has included styling, sales, and communication training.
